IATF 16949 auditors' competence is of decisive importance: on the one hand, because they have to implement the IATF 16949 requirements in their own organization in a focused manner and evaluate the effectiveness of quality management actions. On the other hand, so they can review their suppliers as to whether their QM system complies with IATF 16949.

 

by attending “IATF 16949 – Qualification for 1st/2nd Party Auditor (ID 211)” trainee will receive the necessary qualification for the above. After passing the examination ” IATF 16949 – Examination for 1st/2nd Party Auditor (ID 250)”, you will receive a certificate with a registered numbering in connection with an auditor card as well as a corresponding VDA QMC database entry (The certificate is issued exclusively by the IATF member VDA QMC or by one of the approved licensed partners), and thus fulfill some customers’ requirements for the qualification of internal auditors.

IATF 16949 1st and 2nd party auditor qualification renewal process:

  • Have a 16949 certificate issued by VDA.

  • The applicant has conducted at least three complete IATF 16949 1st/2nd party audits in the past three years.

  • Fill in the word application form, signed by the person in charge.


After meeting the above conditions, take the ID 255 exam (the specific form is similar to the oral exam, focusing on simulated audits focusing on auditing skills), and if you pass it, you will be able to extend it.

IATF 16949 3rd Party Auditor


IATF has created five oversight offices to administer IATF registration scheme. IATF certification can only be granted by certification bodies accredited by the IATF. An overview of all approved certification companies can be found at IATF Oversight Offices – VDA QMC (vda-qmc.de). The certification process requires qualified auditors who can verify that an organization has the required qualifications for an IATF certificate.

Only the training and professional development of the VDA QMC as a training organization of the German IATF Over-sights is authorized in the German-speaking countries to offer the qualification as IATF 3rd-party auditor. The focus is set on teaching specialist knowledge and application competence with the objective of preparing you for the responsible tasks in the IATF certification process.


The qualification process for IATF 16949 – 3rd party auditors was defined by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and is divided into the following steps:

Phase 1

  • Processing of ADP online modules

  • Participation in the four-day "IATF 16949 – 3rd party auditor qualification (ID 230)"

  • Completion of knowledge and application examinations

  • After passing the exam, a 4-AUD-B identification number valid for two years is issued.


Phase 2

  • Completion of the qualification process with a final examination
